I have really been struggling to get back into my old habits and routines since I came back from my honeymoon. I have not worked out since the week before I left for my trip. My eating habits are back to being horrible. My energy level is low. I feel sluggish, run-down, and irritable. My body just feels out of wack. Worst of all, I gained five pounds.
Enough is enough and it is time for me to get it together. Since there are no holidays in the month of June, I think that this is the perfect month to get it started. I will be doing the Built Not Bought program by Angela Simmons.
This is an eight-week program that is designed for "those who are super busy, parents to children, and strong women who look to continue to push their fitness goals." "60 days to a new you and a sexier, slimmer, toned body."
I lost 20 pounds over the last six months or so and this year I want to focus on building muscle. Although this program doesn't specifically say that it is a muscle-building program, after reading through the workouts, I can imagine how sexy and toned my legs are going to be after this program.
I'm not new to working out. My usual workouts consist of warming up, working out, then stretching. I noticed that this program does not provide you with any warm-ups or stretches. I am really confused by this because both are important. And in the FAQ section, there is a question and answer about why stretching is important. But yet, I did not see any mention of stretching anywhere else in the program. So I will be doing a warm-up and stretching on my own.
As far as the workouts. This is basically a circuit training type of workout program. This is very different from my usual types of workouts. I usually do a combination of HIIT, strength training, and cardio for most of my workouts. I remember one time I asked my husband to write a workout for me and he basically wrote a circuit-style workout and I thought it was stupid. Needless to say, I never did the workout that he wrote for me. I'm curious to see the impact that circuit training will have on my body vs. my usual HIIT/combination workouts.
What I really love about this nutrition plan is that it breaks everything down for you. It tells you everything from how to read a nutrition label to what are macro-nutrients. It also provides you with recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Vegetarian options are also included in this meal plan.
Overall, I love how realistic Angela is with this entire workout program. She understands that people are busy and that you may not have time to get through your entire workout or jump straight into meal prepping. She set weekly goals to help you make continuous progress through this entire program. I can’t wait to get started!
I will be documenting my entire 60-day journey so be sure to check back for updates. Click here to find out more about this workout program.
