DIY Mirrored Nightstands

DIY Mirrored Nightstand

One day, long ago, I was on YouTube and stumbled across this DIY mirrored nightstand. And I just had to do it myself. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous and would put a feminine touch on a rather masculine room.

After watching the video, I went straight to IKEA’s website to order these dressers. To my surprise, these dressers were out of stock. Not only were they out of stock on that day, but they were also out of stock for months. Eventually, I was able to get two of them. My little sister picked them up from a store in Texas. She brought them to me when she came down to visit a couple of days later.
DIY Mirrored Nightstand
                              What I Used
2- IKEA Rast 3-drawer chest (link below)
1- can of metallic silver spray paint- Rustoleum brand
1- tube of Mirror, Marble & Granite Adhesive (w/Culk Gun)
1- pack of 12 diamond-shaped crystal glass drawer knobs (link below)
1-tube E6000 glue
Mirrors cut to the sizes below.
     Top: 11-3/8 L x 22-7/8 W
     2-Sides: 27' L x 11-5/8 W
     3-Drawers: 7-1/4 L x 22-7/8 W

What I Did
  1. First thing first. I had to put the dressers together. Do not put the knobs on the dressers!
  2. Then, I spray-painted the dressers. Now you don't have to spray paint the entire dresser. Just the outer parts of the drawers and the dresser will show even after the mirrors are applied. Let dry.
  3. It's time to apply the mirrors. I used a caulk gun to apply the mirror, marble, & granite adhesive to the backs of the mirrors. Then, I applied the mirrors to the dresser. Press firmly. I used clamps and other various weighted items around the house to add weight to help the mirrors stay in place while drying. (Note: It's a good idea to apply your knobs now so that the E6000 glue can fully dry as well.) I also only used one tube of mirror adhesive for both dressers.
  4. It takes 24 hours for the adhesive to fully dry. After that, I put the drawers in the dressers and gave all the mirrors a wipe down.
Before the knobs were applied

What It Cost

The total cost of this project was roughly $170.
Dressers-$70 (for 2)
Mirrors- $70- (Purchased 5 items # 99768 from Lowes and they cut it to the measurements I provided free of charge) This was for both nightstands.
Knobs- $12
Caulking- $6
Paint-$5
E6000-$5

Angela’s Thoughts- These dressers turned out really well. This was an easy DIY. The only thing that I do not like about it is that these dressers are small. Like really small.

  1. You talking about the dressers I picked up during the Saints and Vikings game that I made Matt miss according to your mother?
