30 Day Detox

In June, I completed a 30 day workout challenge. After completing the challenge, I did not feel as accomplished as I had hoped I would feel. I still felt as if I needed to do something. I still felt as if I needed to accomplish something. I still felt as if there was something missing. So, I decided to do a 30 day clean eating challenge. I asked my friend Dom if she wanted to join and she was all in.

Over the next week, I worked hard to put together a meal plan and workout guide for us. We were to start our clean eating on July 1st. While we were patiently waiting for July 1st to roll around, I came across an interesting post on Facebook. A girl, whom I had went to college with, posted that she was doing a 30 day mind, body, & soul detox. I immediately knew that this was exactly what I was looking for. The only problem I had with this was, how do I detox my mind and my soul?

Instead of spending hours or days researching, trying to figure out how to do it the "right way," I decided to start with what I thought I should change in my own life. This is what I came up with.

Detox My Mind!
  1. No Reality TV. - I am a reality TV junkie. I watch the Real Housewives of everything, Love and Hip Hop of everything, Basketball Wives of everything, Black Ink of everything, Teen Mom of everything, Married to Medicine, and almost every other reality TV show there is. I can easily spends hours on the couch watching TV every single day. And lately, I have been doing it without realizing it.
  2. No Social Media. - While I'm not big on social media, I do like to scroll and look at things when I'm bored at work, or need a break from doing what I should be doing. Sometimes I get caught up watching all of the videos and reading comment after comment because lets be honest, the comments are where its at.
  3. Do Something For Me. - I borrowed this one from an episode of My 600-lb. Life. A therapist suggested to one of the patients that he take at least 30 minutes each day to do something for himself, something that would make him happy. I thought that that was an ingenious idea. Whether its blogging, reading, shopping, or doing a DIY, I will make the time to do something for me.
Detox My Body!
  1. Eat Clean. - This one speaks for its self. I am going to stick to my clean eating meal plan.
  2. Workout. - I plan to workout at least 4 days a week.
  3. Drink Water. - I don't really have an issue with drinking water. I already drink plenty. I just want to keep it up.
Detox My Soul!
  1. Go To Church. - Uugghh! This is going to be the toughest of all. I don't have a problem with going to church. The problem is I haven't found a church that I like yet. But I will put that aside for now and just go to church.
  2. Go To Bible Study. - The church that I will be attending have bible study every Tuesday night at 7pm. Which works out perfectly because Tuesday nights are our off nights from the gym. This is clearly meant to be right?
  3. Live The Word. - I plan to actually apply what I learn from church and bible study, to my life.
Wish me luck. Remember to check back for an update on my progress.
